Elementary School

  • Dress like an alien or astronaut: “We will LAUNCH INTO READING!”
  • “Rocket Puzzle” – each class will receive a puzzle piece to a Rocket.  On each piece teacher will complete:  teacher name, grade level, class favorite book, and decorate. Pieces due to C. Stone by Tuesday afternoon.
  • Guest Readers visit classrooms

**New books will be available for checkout in the Media Center

 

Middle & High School

  • All teachers post “What I am Reading” poster on or beside door.
  • Hallway Book Puzzle

 

Tuesday,

January 25th

 

Elementary School

  • Dress in crazy socks: “We are WACKY about Reading!”
  • Design your own bookmark – Blank template will be provided for students to be creative with Rocket/Launch into Reading bookmark.
  • Guest Readers visit classrooms

 

*Rocket Puzzle pieces due by the end of the day to C. Stone

 

Middle & High School

  • In ELA class – Students “free read” for the first 10 minutes of each period.
  • Hallway Book Puzzle

 

Wednesday, January 26th

 

Elementary School

  • Dress in camouflage: Let’s HUNT for a Good Book!
  • Classes go outside and read their favorite book for 15 minutes.
  • Guest Readers visit classrooms

 

Middle & High School

  • In Reading Class – Students work to create a piece of art work about the book they are reading to be displayed in hall (no more than 15 minutes per day – 3 days to complete).
  • Hallway Book Puzzle

 

Thursday,

January 27th

Elementary School

  • Wear your favorite hat: “Hat’s Off to Reading!”
  • D.E.A.R. – Drop Everything And Read.  All students will stop what they are doing and read for 20 minutes.  Times will be called over the intercom.
  • Guest Readers visit classrooms

 

Middle & High School

  • In Reading Class – Students work to create a piece of art work about the book they are reading to be displayed in hall (no more than 15 minutes per day – 3 days to complete).
  • Hallway Book Puzzle

 

Friday,

Elementary School

  • Dress in RED:  RED=Read Every Day!
  • Flashlight Friday – Student will use flashlights while they read in a darkened classroom.  Students may bring their own flashlights or teachers may help provide.
  • Guest Readers visit classrooms

 

Middle & High School

  • In Reading Class – Students work to create a piece of art work about the book they are reading to be displayed in hall (no more than 15 minutes per day – 3 days to complete).
  • Hallway Book Puzzle
